A Trip to a Dairy Farm and Good Fences Along the Way

Can you believe it is already August??
Surely, Walmart will be getting out the Christmas decorations next week!
~
Last weekend the hubs and I set out to a dairy farm about twenty-five miles away
to get what was described to us as the best ice cream...ever.
I think I enjoyed the drive in the country that it took to get there as much as the ice cream.
I saw some really Good Fences and other interesting things to share at the *Run-A-Round Ranch*.
(squeezing this in right before the deadline :O)
~
First of all, look at these little cuties...

There was a whole row of these little guys behind the picnic area where you eat your ice cream.
I have to admit I have never seen a calf in a dog house before!

I don't know how old this little one was but it could hardly stand alone...
...looks pretty fresh, don't you think??
~
I could just kick myself for not getting a shot of our ice cream cones.
Let me just say that between balancing a nearly foot high cone...I'm not lyin'...
...the ice cream alone stood about 7" tall...
...and licking the melting part of it as it trailed down my arm,
well, needless to say, it was a little hard to pick up my camera.
Although it very delicious, we learned right away to never get two dips again.
Between the scorching heat melting it and my aching belly, the rest of it had to go in the trash :(
~
Now back to the fences...

How's this for an entry way??

There was a sign off to the side...it was the Pegasus Real Estate office....wow.
Pretty sure we wouldn't be able to touch anything they were selling.

Down the road a piece we found this "little guy".
I wish I would have gotten a shot at him straight on....his horns were about 4' or more in width.
This was really a good fence!!

This brand spankin' new fence really caught my eye...
...and quickly noticed the also new looking structure behind it....barn or house?

After zooming in, I think house...don't you?

And what would a drive in the country be without a lovely red barn...

...or a great old run down one like this?

So I'm saving the best for last...well maybe not the best...

Really folks??
~
So next time we visit the dairy farm, I will try to get a picture of the ice cream cone...only one dip.
Or then again, maybe two...to prove to you I wasn't exaggerating :)
~
 Happy first weekend in August!!

  3. Every time I visit, it's like I get to go on an adventure with you! You take the most wonderful photos. A cow in the doghouse? Such a moooving picture. I think the one picture is a house...belonging to Old MacDonald?! And, a hot pink fence??? Are you kidding me? Maybe someone had too many scoops of raspberry ice cream and got *over-inspired*??

    So fun being here today!

    GOD BLESS!

    1. Oh Sharon, could we go on an adventure together....could we, could we, could we???? That would certainly be a blast! I don't know why the little calves were in those houses...probably a half dozen of them or so. Perhaps when we go back for more ice cream I'll ask them. Yes, that pink fence was quite something. Have a good weekend, my friend and start packing for that adventure...lol!

  4. Ice Cream is always a yummy treat.. I love the cow in the doghouse.. And the big horn fellow.. The hot pink fence hurts my eyes.. Great fence shots, enjoy your weekend!

  5. Is that pink one part of the dairy? That's very hot pink. We had a similar experience with ice cream cones recently. I find a baby cone is the perfect size for me. You are very good at finding those fences!

  6. What fun photos! Hard to tell on that house? structure. Kinda looks like a horse barn to me. But who knows. Remind me not to paint my fence pink. LOL What a great visit to the farm.

  7. What great fences, especially the bright pink one ha ha. It's always nice to go and find new ice cream - and one scoop is usually enough for us as well.

  8. What a great assortment of fences, and the last one made me laugh!

  9. You found a nice variety of fences, Debby. I don't think I'd want a hot pink one, but to each their own. Right? lol! Ice cream on an outing sounds like a winner to me and seeing a beautiful red barn is always a treat, too. I like both of them!

    1. Cheryl...like you, I don't know why anyone would want a hot pink fence in their yard but...oh well... :) Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Speaking of nauseating, that pink fence was just about the color of Pepto-Bismol...lol! And it was natural color on the other side...at least the next door neighbors couldn't see it on their side :) I also thought the bull (or steer) had lovely markings. Have a wonderful weekend!

  17. A lovely series of photos on your drive, from the gate with the statues, to the calf and that animal with the huge horns, the pretty fences and the beautiful barns, each shot so interesting. This was a lovely drive on the way to get your ice-cream. Thanks for taking us along. Have a great weekend :)

  18. Yes you saved a good one for the end! It reminds me of a purple house I know. That new house behind the new fence is really interesting. It almost looks like a barn door but it must be the garage? Sort of a blend . . .Enjoy this rainy weekend!

    1. Dotsie, I think I have seen that purple house too...lol! I think it might be a house built to look like a barn...still not sure. Yes, it is a dreary weekend but that's OK...I like them every now and then :) Blessings!

  19. Well- that sounds like a humdinger of an ice cream cone! Not sure about the pink fence, but the other one is gorgeous! I'm thinking that is a barn...it looks like those I have seen in Kentucky. Have a great weekend!

  20. Nothing like a good ice cream on a hot summer day. Love the calf in the dog house!

  21. Oh, I'm in love with your fences, today, Debby, and all that gorgeous green grass and blue sky!! What a fun excursion, with so much to note; simply breathtaking! The cow and calf are TOO cute! I especially like the picture of the fence, just before the barn, for its perspective! Thanks so much for sharing your adventure!

  23. i like the pink fence, maybe not for my house but still! love that baby cow in the dog house! funny, i showed a pegasus house on my blog about a week ago, they must be related lol...i thought of you and that post of that midwife on the parkway sunday because we jumped on and stopped at smart view, which is about 20 miles north of the one you were at. i was hoping to talk my husband into going further but he had enough parkway time by then lol...ah well, another day!

  24. YIKES!! oh, your poor aching eyeballs just trying to focus on that fence! And, what a strange polka dotted bull.... hmmmm... he almost looks pink too..or did that wild fence have something to do with it...hahhaha..... anyway...good fences!

  26. Well, Pink fence has to be better than a pink house... I loved the photos and I did use my imagination on the size of your ice cream cone! HAPPY DAY to you and enjoy the summer days and nights!

  27. Loved the cute cows and the pretty fences!! The pink one though......looks like something I would do....I would say "let's be bold and do something different like paint our fence pink!!" And then I would hate it and couldn't afford or not have the time to repaint it...lol. I'm also always a sucker for a red barn, field and fence photo....:) Love and hugs to you!!!!!

  28. Great set a shots...I love pink, but not that pink for that fence!

  29. Loving all these baby cows and beautiful scenes, then that fence . . . really? It does remind me of my bedroom walls when I was about ten years old. Everyone called it the Pepto Bismal room.

    1. I know, Amy...I couldn't believe my eyes!! Pepto Bismol is the first thing I thought of too...lol!
