Wednesday Medley: Food for Thought

Hello and happy Wednesday to you!

So the first page of the calendar has been turned over to a new month already.
Wasn't it just last week that I took down that Christmas tree??
As usual, time is ticking right along...way too fast.
Even though the calendar says February, it feels like it's already June here in North Carolina.
We went from having temperatures in the teens last week to the mid 70s this week!
Although quite a treat, I really prefer the weather to be seasonable...
...I know, I'm weird like that. 😏
~
So here's the latest on what's going on with me...
The majority of my blood tests came back within normal limits with just a few things a bit off,
most likely due to some minor jaundice and malnutrition that I have been experiencing.
You would never know it by looking at me but yes, apparently I'm undernourished.
I have dropped about 20 pounds recently...not in a good way but I am holding steady.
None of the results were red-flagged and all were published to my electronic MyChart account.
They don't release bad news until the doctor explains the results and I have not heard from them.
So far, so good...I think.
I did have the second biopsy last Friday and hope to be getting the results any day now.
This waiting is the worst part but I know sometimes it takes a while to get the right diagnosis.
Patience....ah, patience...I just don't have any it is not always my strong suit!
So I just keep telling myself that this must be God's plan for me...
...and I'm still waiting for the day (patiently?) that our plans coincide.
(I still like my plan better.😉)

So let's get on with this week's Wednesday Medley...

...just hop on over to Terri's blog, copy and paste her questions and answer them on your blog.
It's a fun way to get to know a little more about our blogging friends!

TODAY IS NATIONAL FROZEN YOGURT DAY!

1.  Today, Wednesday, February 6th, is Frozen Yogurt Day!  A cold dessert on what must be a very cold day for most of you reading this today!  Do you enjoy frozen yogurt?  Does it matter what the weather is?  Share with us your favorite flavor and/or topping, please!!

Well, actually, it's another day in the mid 70s here today so frozen yogurt sounds pretty good right about now. I do enjoy frozen yogurt and no, it doesn't matter what the weather is for me to have a frozen treat. I couldn't really name a favorite but I have a feeling it might involve chocolate...with no toppings. I am not really much of a "topping" kind of girl. But here lately, yogurt would most likely not be on my list of foods...only if it was fat-free and low sugar. With whatever it is that's going on in my tummy, this would most likely not go down too well.
2.  What food do you know you shouldn't eat but can't help yourself?

To tell you the truth, there are many...but these days it's pretty easy to pass them up.

3.  If your life was a meal, what kind of meal would it be?

Gee, I maybe should have passed on the Medley this week since it's all about food...HA! Let me just try to answer the questions the way I would have answered them before I got sick. Sooooo.....if my life was a meal, it would be a Thanksgiving turkey feast with all the trimmings and usual desserts...comfort food at it's finest. Comfort food comes in many varieties but it always seems to make folks feel better...thus the name "comfort food". I very much want my life to be a comfort to those I encounter along the way.

4.  Do you like spicy food?  Why or why not?  What is the spiciest food you have ever eaten?

I do like a moderate amount of spice but nothing too extreme. Even on a good day, really spicy food doesn't set well on my stomach and gives me indigestion. I'd say the spiciest food I ever had were some REALLY hot buffalo wings so I'm always a bit cautious around them.
5.  (Most of you know I have been sick with a cold.) What food do you eat or crave when you have a bad cold?

Whether it's a bad cold or my currently messed up belly, this is my go-to meal. Yep...good old Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup. It just seems to always hit the spot and has done so as long as I can remember.
6.  Please tell us something random about your week (and maybe it will involve food).

Another week of waiting on more test results and just trying to go about life as usual here. I would actually love it to involve food but nothing much appeals to me lately except the soup...and well....maybe these....

Enjoy the rest of your week, my friends!

  1. Oh Debby, that waiting!! It's always so hard to do. And I know there are many praying for you. Loved your little sketch. And popsicles are always a favorite. Just lately I've been eating a DQ fudge bar (low sugar, 50 calories) for a treat. Believe it or not, even when it's -35°F I love to stand next to the fire and enjoy that frozen treat. Thank you for keeping us posted. xo

  2. You've certainly had an eventful time . . . and not necessarily in a good way! Continuing to pray for good results. And 70 degrees?! My goodness . . . I do not crave seasonal temps living in Chicago. UNseasonal temps on the positive side of the thermometer are always welcome this time of year!

  3. I did some research to see how many times in the Bible the word "wait" is used. In the King James version (not my favorite) the word - wait - appears 106 times; the word - waited - appears 35 times; the word - waiteth - appears 11 times; the word - waiting - appears 8 times. I get the impression that waiting is part of the Christian walk and am grateful He told us that we are to wait on Him, not someone else or ourselves to bring about the answer. I also think He knew it would be the hardest thing for us to do. But, from personal experience, growth and healing can come during that period of not knowing what is ahead, but trusting that He does. You know that as well.

  4. Why is it that patience is so hard for us, Debby? It must be that we are humans! We do have Faith and Trust in Our Lord, and I'm praying for good results for you. I loved the Drawing of your plan vs. God's plan.
I'm praying for you, dear Debby! Love ❤️ and hugs 🤗 are sent to you!

  6. You are still in my prayers.
Worship the Lord your God and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you... Exodus 23:25

  7. Waiting is really hard. May God fill your mind with good things and worthy thoughts to fill the time.

  8. Waiting is awful but I have learned from experience....God's timing is perfect in all things. Girl, I got you covered in prayer. Praying without ceasing. Weather crazy here too. Suppose to be in 80's I think today. I like the seasons too! Don't happen in Florida.

    1. Not a yogurt gal really. I will eat ice cream type yogurt and I did try some yogurt recently with blackberries and granola topping. It wasn't too bad! Bring me an ice cream sandwich and I am good to go. LOL!

    2. What food do you know you shouldn't eat but can't help yourself?
Well, anything really spicy. I know I will have the heart burn but sometimes I just gotta have it. Same with chocolate for me. Too much chocolate and I can get ready!

    3. If your life was a meal, what kind of meal would it be? Oh that's easy. Fried chicken, potato salad, mustard greens with a big old fat ham hock in it and some biscuits. YEP...now you know why I haven't lost 20 pounds! LOL!

    4. Do you like spicy food? Why or why not? What is the spiciest food you have ever eaten?
I do like a little spice. I used to love things that had a kick but after suffering for many years with acid re flux and irritated and inflamed lining of stomach I decided quick like I best change that way of eating. I will add a hint of hot sauce to a lot of my recipes but within reasoning.

    5. What food do you eat or crave when you have a bad cold?
Soup for sure. I like good old chicken noodle soup from a can but if I can, I like to make my own chicken noodle soup too. Or potato soup. But...sick or not, I love soups and all year round.

    6. Speaking of food.....I had a piece of chewy cake I made this morning with coffee and see here....it was so good. Ha! Now I will be wanting to eat all daggum day!

Looking forward to hearing great news my dear friend....Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  10. 20 pounds! Wow! That is usually the amount I lose when I've had surgery or been sick. I'm so sorry that you are in the waiting room right now. I know how that is and it isn't easy. May the Lord bless and comfort you and praying you hear soon the next steps. It is warm here, too and I have to say when it is February, I want cold weather, please. I don't want mosquitoes bugging me. I'm for chicken noodle soup when I have a cold, however, I do pick the chicken out of it! haha.

  11. I like your plan better too but I would hate to see how my plan looks after ALL these years! Lots of dips and some of those rainclouds too. I hope all the tests have good results and you can get straightened out and feel better soon! Sending you lots of hugs. Stay on that bike and ride as hard as you can! Hugs!

  12. Twenty pounds is quite a bit in a short amount of time. Praying that your tummy feels better soon so you can have proper nutrition. I loved the your plan/His plan maps and I definitely like yours better. Someday, when it won’t matter at all, we’ll understand why. And I like your describing your life as comfort food a la Thanksgiving. That’s better than Twinkies and Cocoa Puffs.

  13. Sending you many hugs and beautiful thoughts and prayers to you, my lovely friend, to wrap around you as you wait to hear of your diagnosis♥

  14. Praying you get your test results back soon! It sounds like things are looking good so far.
There is nothing like Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup with some saltines when my tummy is bothering me. Loved your answers! Enjoy the rest of your week.

  16. So far so good! I continue to mention you in my prayers. BTW, I still like chicken noodle soup, too. When Lorelei is here, so many times she will want food...as snack, but not snack food...chicken noodle soup hits the spot for her, too.

  21. PRAISE GOD!!!!!! SO very thankful that your results have all been wonderful news, so far, and trusting God to continue this and allow ALL to come back just the way you want it to, my friend. It is so very hard to wait and wonder and it gives the enemy so much time to work and torment. May God give you so much peace in the waiting and may you soon here the very best news. I am continuing to pray for you.

  22. Well so far things sound pretty good which is wonderful news. I know the "waiting" is the hardest part. I admire your resolve to trust in God even though you wish He would hurry up with the answers. Patience is not one of my better suits either. Hubby & I were just talking about that this morning. Enjoyed your answers to the questions. Now I'm hungry!

  23. So thankful that the news you've gotten so far has been negative, praising the Lord for that! Continuing in prayer that the tests will bring answers for you! Oh the waiting... so so hard! I loved your little sketch... one thing I've noticed all throughout my life is that it is in the most difficult times of my life that I found His peace and presence so comforting and special. I pray that for you, that in these difficult moments of waiting, that HIS grace and presence will be with you in a deeper way than ever before!! And oh yes to the Campbell's chicken noodle soup, it is our go-to when we are sick as well. There is just something SO comforting about it. Continuing to lift you up in prayer!!! Hugs and blessings :)

  24. Still praying for you each day. I know the waiting is the hardest part. Praying for good answers that will give you hope and encouragement. I love Campbell's chicken noodle soup too when I am feeling puny. I keep several cans on hand all the time. Those juice/popsicles look good too. I remember when I was pregnant and couldn't keep anything down that popsicles pretty much kept me alive. Praying for you now. May God give you comfort, strength, and peace for each day.
