And it rained...and it rained...

...and it rained some more.

And it's still coming down.
~
It started out last Friday as a welcomed relief...
...and I thank the Lord for it, don't get me wrong.

It was a beautiful sight to see.

A beautiful thing to feel.

A beautiful thing to hear.

Buckets.
It's coming down in bucket loads.

It started out cool and fresh but now it feels like Florida in July.
Only with no palm trees.

You all know how much I love to snap those little water droplets.
And as you see, I've been doing a lot of snapping.

But enough is enough already.
How many ways can you photograph drops of water, anyway?
I'm done now.

It's Soup Weather, Y'all!

It's been raining for two days with more to come.

But we really need it, here in the south.
It's been dark, dreary and chilly...

...and I am lovin' it!

It's time for some soup, I'd say!
Lately, I've had a hankerin' for some broccoli-cheddar.
Recently, I've been eating low-carb and this fits the bill perfectly.
I looked online at some recipes and actually took a little from three different ones.
~
Here's my recipe:

*1 large head of broccoli, chopped small(ish)
*3 1/2 cups low sodium chicken broth
*2 T. butter
*1 cup heavy cream
*1-8 oz. block cream cheese
*2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
*1 garlic clove, minced
*1 small onion, chopped
*salt and pepper to taste

Place chopped broccoli, garlic and onion in large kettle with the chicken broth.
After it begins to boil, reduce to simmer, cover and cook for about 10 minutes, until tender.
Next, add butter, and the block of cream cheese.
I used cream cheese made from Greek yogurt but any will do...
...the yogurt contains more protein, as you see by the label.

When the cream cheese has melted, add the cheddar and stir, stir, stir...
...making sure the heat is on low so it doesn't stick to the kettle.

Add salt and pepper according to your personal taste.
It's ready to eat after the cheese has melted.

HEY MA.......IS IT SOUP YET??

YOU BETCHA!

And of course, you'll want to garnish with a little added cheese on top :)

It was the perfect lunch on a cool, rainy Saturday!

I also baked some low-carb blueberry muffins after lunch.
I'll be having one of those with another bowl of soup for supper :)

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

"Electric fences are beautiful", said no one ever.

Well... that may be true...

...but just like many things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Am I right?

Sometimes it's not the fence, itself...

...it's what's contained in those fences...

...it's what the fence is keeping in...

...or possibly who it might be keeping out...safety can definitely be a beautiful thing.

Or sometimes it's the way it follows that bend in the road.

We all need boundaries...

...and it's always nice if they can be beautiful ones.
~
So now I ask you to ponder this...

...do you think the spiders ever get electrocuted??

:)

Where else would I share this post other than with Theresa,
down at the Run-A-Round Ranch for Good Fences.

Have a good one!

Foggy Morning Mosaics

Happy Monday to all...actually it will be Tuesday in a few hours :)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
I'm linking my post to Judith's Mosaic Monday.
Come on over and see all of the beautiful mosaics that everyone is sharing!

This past Saturday morning started out kind of cloudy,
and as it continued, a pretty dense fog settled in before I knew it.
I love taking foggy photos so I grabbed my camera and off I went.
Surely you must know I headed straight out to my road less traveled...

...and here are a few shots I snapped along the way.

Objects seem to look totally different in the fog.

Their familiar backgrounds seem to have all but disappeared.

I drive by these barns several times a week...

...and it was like seeing them for the very first time in the fog.

My road less traveled seemed to just disappear into nowhere.

And look! Well, what do you know...more spider webs!
For those of you who are tired of my spider webs, just scroll down really fast :)

This time they were really tiny and clinging to everything possible...
...billowing in the breeze like miniscule kites that had gotten stuck in miniscule trees.

OK...this is the last one.

Well, just one more, I promise....really...I mean it this time.

I'll leave you with this cute poem I found.

 THE FOG
~by Walterrean Salley

The fog is an illusion—
A master of disguise,
Which hides the tangible
Before our very eyes.

But when the fog has lifted
Everything’s still there,
And the tangible
Only seemed to’ve disappeared.

In the early morning
Or late at night,
The fog descends
Upon various sites.

It gives an air of mystery
That has long prevailed.
Dangerously intriguing
Is the fog’s foggy veil.

And today is also the first day of fall...yay!
Have a great week, everyone :)

Bedazzled Fences

Let me first start out by saying I do not like spiders.
The fact is, spiders are way at the top of my list of things I do not like...
...however...

...I am totally enthralled and enchanted by the masterpieces they create.

I discovered these beauties last week,
right before I came upon that field of morning glories.

In fact, I debated titling this post "Another Kind of Morning Glories"...

...for the simple reason it was morning and the webs were glorious :)

They were draped all along these electric fences.

The heavy morning dew created the illusion of thousands of strands of tiny crystal beads...

...glistening in the nearly blinding early morning sun as it peeked up over the bales of hay.

I'm pretty sure I remember picking my chin up off the ground as I laid eyes on them.

It seems I'm drawn to the challenge of snapping spider webs whenever I come across them...

...but I wasn't actually looking for these...

...they pretty much found me :)

And of course I just have to share these bedazzled fences over at

Come on over and join the party!
