Farmer's Market Delights

I just love all of the beautiful colors at a farmer's market, don't you?
Here are some pretty pinks from the Southwest Farmer's Market in Hillsville, VA.


We make a trip there every time we visit our cabin in Fancy Gap.

There, you will you find a bounty of home grown produce in every color of the rainbow.
This is just the pink stuff!

Look at these lovely Angel's Wing begonias in different stages of blooming.



Do you see the shadow of that little bug on the back side of the petal?


There's one on this one too :)


Aren't they gorgeous?


There were also many beautiful mums...


...and maybe a few other things to bring back some memories from your childhood.
Do you remember eating any of these candies as a kid? I sure do.

    What a lovely pink the Angel Wing Begonia is! I will have to look for one in the spring! Your photography is beautiful, too!
    I love shopping at our Farmers Market and while we don't have candies, they have delicious baked goods! I am always happy when I can find something sugar free!

      Hi Jil! Thanks for stopping by! Just to let you know, the Angel's Wing begonia was out just a couple of weeks ago when I was there. You may be able to find them before spring and keep it in the house!

    Beautiful photos and mosaic! I love all the subtle and not so subtle pink! I know just where you were, and we live in the same state just south of where you were.     Yes, I remember you have commented on my blog before. Who could forget the name, Podso, right? It sounds like you are quite familiar with the area. We have had a cabin Fancy Gap for 11 years...Hillsville is officially the address of it and we visit this place every time...along with the Amish store and Galax. We love the area!     There is a much greater variety at the farmer's market in your area than ours. I do love the fresh produce and baking available. Fried pie is a new one to me, and not available in our area of Ontario.

    So many pretty/yummy pinks! I would think fried pies are up North also, especially around the amish communities. I ate many of the homemade ones growing up, but have not had one in years. The commercial ones are just not the same as homemade, but I am to lazy to make my own (don't need the calories either):)
    I also enjoy a trip to the farmers' market

      Glenda, you are probably right about the Amish making fried pies. I am from Ohio and don't remember them in my area but I did not live in Amish country.

    We were in Hillsville just the other weekend. It's a small world - we live in Lexington. Love your mosaics...especially the candy one. Boy, did it bring back the childhood memories. I really like the way you put your grouping together. Very appealing to the eye. genie

      Shane...thanks for stopping by! I appreciate all of your sweet comments. You know, on a whim, I grabbed my camera before we left. Because there is a lot of natural light, it made it all the better for taking pics! Hope the lettuce trick is working for you...I'm so glad I learned about it!

    A sugar free fried pie...now that sounds interesting. Did you try one? I love this time of year... the Farmer's Markets are full of so many delightful things. One doesn't have to spend a lot of money to enjoy having been there. Especially not when taking such great photosto enjoy later.

      Vee, I have had the sugar-free fried pies and you can hardly tell the difference. They must have Splenda in them. Fall is my favorite time of year for sure but anytime we get to the farmer's market, it's a great time. This was the first time I took pictures...the lighting was perfect :)
