There's a song that is playing in my head.
It's been there since last Sunday morning when I first sang it with our worship team.
The message couldn't be simpler....or more powerful.
Click on the video below if you'd like to hear it...
...or maybe even sing along.
"Lord, I Need You"
~Chris Tomlin
Lord, I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You're the One that guides my heart
Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are, Lord, I am free
Holiness is Christ in me
Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
Teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus, You're my hope and stay
Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
You're my one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
**********
I can't think of a song I'd rather have stuck in my head.
I want this to be my theme song.
Because I never want to stop needing my Jesus...
...every day, every hour, every minute, every second.
Blessings,
Jesus is all I need. I love it when a beautiful song is stuck in my mind.Oh,the picture is lovely as well.
ReplyDeleteThe link wasn't there but I have heard this song. Chris Tomlin is such an anointed song writer isn't he? Thank you for sharing and have a blessed Sunday, Debby.
ReplyDeleteSorry Pamela...I will check it out and see if I can fix it....it works for me so I don't know what happened. Yes Chris Tomlin is truly gifted and anointed. Have a blessed weekend!
DeleteI'm so glad you posted this song as I don't know the new parts so well and we've sung it feebly a few times to guitar in our small group and now I can hear it as it should be! I loved your notecards, by the way!
ReplyDeleteWell I am so glad I did too! I didn't really think I had a post for the weekend and at the last minute, between the verses of that song playing in my head, I decided I would post about IT!! You 'll know it better than everyone else now...lol!
DeleteMust listen tomorrow when I fire up the PC. March skies are so pretty...this one is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree, Debby, I need my Lord every hour of every day. a beautiful hymn indeed. Have a blessed Sunday.
ReplyDeleteSue
One of my favorites too. However, my most favorite is "How Great Thou Art".
ReplyDeleteA beautiful song, and reminds me of an old hymn from years ago that I've been playing on the piano all week. "I need thee, oh, I need thee. Every hour, I need thee..."
ReplyDeleteGayle, "I Need Thee Every Hour" is one of my favorite old hymns too. I'm sure that is why this has resonated with me so deeply.
DeleteBeautiful song. Thank you for the reminder - we haven't sung it in a while. A perfect one for me this week with a loved one in serious condition in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteMindy, I am so sorry to hear about your loved one...I pray for their recovery. Blessings for the weeks ahead!
DeleteOh my, loved listening to that hymn. I too, remember one similar to it. "I need thee, oh, I need thee. Every hour, I need thee..." I love old church hymns! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Nancy
I love the way some of the newer artists are remaking the old hymns...I never want to get this one out of my head. Blessings, Nancy!
DeleteHi Debby! What a wonderful post to see on a Monday morning. A great prayer, and something to remember all week long. That is a good thing to have 'stuck' in your head!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a bright, joyful Monday :)
Ceil
Yes, Ceil...I would much rather have this song stuck in my head than a couple of months ago when I had "What's Does the Fox Say?" stuck in there....for days on end :)
DeleteA long time ago, there was a song that had this sentiment in it: "If you were on trial for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?" I have never forgotten that. For all too often, my life does not reflect my faith, nor does it do a very good job of reflecting my Lord.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, He is my one defense - and His wounds are the *proof* that I am freed!
Yes, I need Him - every day, every moment - His salvation is all that keeps me...
GOD BLESS!
Sharon, I remember that song or quote also and I think about it every now and then, especially when I don't think I could spend even one day in jail for being "guilty" of acting like a Christian. I feel exactly as you do, friend....falling on my knees and thanking Jesus for His awesome grace and merciful forgiveness. Yes, every hour I need him.
DeleteLast year in one of the most difficult seasons in my life, this song spoke volumes to me and literally turned my life around. Thanks for sharing. Love, love, love it!
ReplyDeleteIt blesses me so much to know how much it blessed you!
DeleteI have enjoyed this post so much! What a blessing. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, CIndy...I am glad you were blessed by it :) Have a blessed day!
DeleteI love this song. I find myself singing it quite often!
ReplyDeleteOh, Debby, this is a beautiful song! It is such a blessing and thank you for sharing it! I thank you so much for popping in to see me.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
That song has wonderful lyrics, which are often found wanting in contemporary music. This is powerful and yes we need Him! Thank you for introducing me to this.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful message, indeed...and you are welcome!
DeleteThank you for sharing this song, Debby Ray. I truly needed to read it at this moment! You have blessed my heart - may the Lord richly bless you :)
ReplyDeleteHugs to you!
I am so glad the song blessed you, Stephanie...and I hope you have a wonderful day :)
DeleteSo very true from sun up to sun down and all through the night hours.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Susan.
DeleteWe sing a hymn called, "I Need Thee Every Hour" and it has a similar message. It is comforting to think of the words. We are lucky to have the knowledge of our Savior! Hope you are enjoying this beautiful season!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am very familiar with that old hymn...I have always loved it so much...I think that is why this one speaks to my heart as well. I love the way some of the newer Christian singers are bringing back the messages of these old hymns more and more. Have a blessed weekend!
