It's MAY...can you believe it?
Everything here is green, green, GREEN...
...we've had tons of rain lately but will certainly need it this summer.
These are just a few shots from my Friday morning ramblings.
Can you believe that in another month 2017 will be half over...
...crazy, huh?
But that's still a bunch of hodgepodges to post!
So come on over to the pond lake...
and let's find out what questions Joyce is asking this week...
1. Can you tell I'm embracing a Cinco de Mayo theme here this week? Do you like Mexican food? What's your favorite dish? How about on the side-black beans, pinto beans, refried beans, rice? What about heat-mild, medium, hot? Will you celebrate with Mexican food and drink on May 5th aka Cinco de Mayo?
I do enjoy Mexican food but we may only eat it out at a restaurant every couple of months. Hubby Jim loves homemade tacos and we do enjoy them about every other week or so. I'd say one of my favorite dishes is fajitas nachos...it's all of the goodness of chicken/steak fajitas on a bed of tortilla chips. A close second would be beef and chicken taquitos with a side of rice, beans and salad. I only enjoy black beans in something else (not by themselves) nor am I a lover of pintos but I could eat them as long as I could add me some ketchup. Refried beans with the melted cheese is the piece de resistance of any Mexican dish if you ask me...and you already know I like the rice although I do not order it always....the carbs, you know and I like my salsa medium hot. Cinco de Mayo is not an event that I celebrate as a general rule....PLUS...Jim will be working on Friday night and I will not be dining out alone :)
2. Ever been to Mexico? For work or holiday? Love it or no? If you haven't been is this a place you'd like to visit? Can you speak Spanish?
I've never been there and have never really had a desire to go...but if someone wanted to pay my way and get me there I would go and I'm sure I'd enjoy it. My Spanish is limited to por favor, muchas gracias and a few items on the menu.
3. What's one thing you may accomplish this month?
Getting a fresh coat of paint on the of the baseboards and new interior doors. I am getting so excited just thinking about it. 😖
4. If you were mayor of your village, city, or town, what's one thing you'd like to see changed, done away with, revamped, or accomplished? Is serving in public office something you've ever seriously considered?
This is probably more of a state law issue but it seems like more and more people are not working (even though they probably could) and are on some sort of public assistance. I see it all the time at my job. Sometimes their situation is legit but other times it's pretty obvious that it's not. I would like to see more regulations in place to make sure the ones who really need it the most get it and those in question have to be drug tested regularly in order to keep their benefits. Never have I considered public service nor do I think I ever would....only will offer my opinion when asked for it...and even sometimes when it's not...haha!
5. What's something that may be popular, but that you just don't get?
Pokémon GO.
6. Can't let this week slip by without mentioning Thursday May 4th is Star Wars Day. As in 'May the 4th be with you' ahem. Are you a fan of the Star Wars series? Exactly how much of a fan are you? On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being 'I've seen every film, own the action figures, might have dressed as Darth Vader for Halloween one year', and 1 being, 'what's a Vader?' -where do you land?
I saw the first movie way back when...not because I wanted to but because someone invited us. Science fiction is just not my thing nor is it Jim's, so it never really made an impression on us. Of course our boys were really into it and have probably seen every one in the series numerous times. I do know who Darth Vader is and few other characters so I think I'm probably a 2 or 3.
7. Scroll back through your blog posts and in three sentences or less tell us the general theme of your fourth blog post. Does it still ring true today? Is it a topic you re-visit on your blog from time to time?
Wow, Joyce...what a unique question! My forth post was titled Fancy Gap...a little Closer to Heaven, where once upon a time we owned a log cabin on top of a mountain in Fancy Gap, VA. Anyone who has followed my blog for a while most likely remembers my posts about this special place. It doesn't seem like 2 1/2 years have passed since we sold it. I have a label on my sidebar that contains wonderful memories and photos of our former little home away from home. Things happen and life changes and new paths are set before us...we've all been there in one way or another. It isn't something I refer to very often anymore...but y'all are probably gonna sick of me talking about the future farmhouse in Tennesse. 😀
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Where did April go, anyway??
Hi Debby, Such pretty spring time shots! We love Mexican food. We are fortunate to have a good restaurant about 5 min. away. We eat there probably once a week.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes with the painting around your house. Painting baseboards is a killer but the end results are worth it! lol
Your log cabin retreat sounds like it would have been a peaceful place to live. Getting a fresh coat of paint on the walls would make me pretty excited too. Perhaps you can post some photos when everything is done!
ReplyDeleteAww...life does bring changes, doesn't it? We are still working on that one here...letting go of the old to embrace the 'new life' in front of us. It is always fun reading these hodge-podge posts and how different each one answers the questions.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Wednesday- xo Diana
Your excitement cracked me up! Hope that it goes better than you are imagining...crank up the music! I do not get tired of amything that you want to chat about...ever.
ReplyDeleteamything? Good heavens!
DeleteGreat Hodgepodge. Yes, where did April go?
ReplyDeleteYour photos of your ramblings are gorgeous; so many beautiful greens. Mexican food....yum!! I don't think I could ever tire of you talking about your new little cottage you are in the process of designing. I confess I have never seen a Star Wars movie...oh no...I hope that confession doesn't start a clone war. =) Have fun painting those baseboards, Debby.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Debby! I will have to go back and read about your log cabin in Fancy Gap. I've always thought that such a pretty area whenever we've traveled south.
Enjoyed your answers this week ... think I might be excited at painting baseboards too. Ours are just the natural wood and they do get dusty.
Enjoyed your gorgeous photos, Debby...what an eye you have! My husband and I talk all the time about our dream of having a farmhouse in Tennessee one day. Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteNew interior doors IS exciting! They will make such a difference in your home. We replaced doors in a previous home, and it was such a noticeable improvement. Happy painting!
ReplyDeleteIndeed where did April go? Stunning photos, I hope you fulfil your dream of a farmhouse in Tennessee.
ReplyDeleteOh I could get VERY excited about anything having to do with paint or re decorating. In definite need over here. I will definitely be checking out your cabin posts. Where did April go? fastest month ever! Enjoy the rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteThe light you captured in that swish of the horses tail is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your hodgepodge. Our April was washed away! :)
Love the pictures sweet lady. Yes, I like Mexican food. I am more of your tacos or taco salad kinda gal and love medium heat. Matter of fact I've been wanting a good taco salad. Maybe that is what I fix about Friday! Happy Day to you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteEveryone's hodgepodge that I've read today is not really into StarWars!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to check out your cabin posts. I think it would be so special to own a cabin!
Love the first photo.
ReplyDeleteThe days...and months just fly by! I love your photos today too. Makes me want to get outside with my camera! Or drive some of the backroads! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteAPRIL was so fast! LOVE your photos - Enjoyed your answers today! Have a great evening!
ReplyDeleteHello Debby,
ReplyDeleteYour spring photos are so pretty, especially the one with the horse - the light is wonderful.
Time does fly by, more quickly each year, I think.
Isn't it nice to see all of the green?! I love Mexican food. My favorite!
ReplyDeleteGood answers, Debby. Enjoyed them. Her question about fourth post is a good one. fun to look back. Someday I need to join the hodge podge again.
ReplyDeleteYour answer to #4 was great and I so agree with your answer to #5, I don't get it either. Yes, the year is flying by!
ReplyDeleteEverything is coming on here, too....green, green, green. I so agree with you about people getting assistance. We had a neighbor, that had kids by at least 3 different guys, not married to any, didn't work, yet would only mow the yard once or twice a summer. And that is just one case...
ReplyDeleteDebby, your photos always stir my heart. Love that dandelion one. It's always nice getting to know you a little better on the hodgepodge. I have another friend, Carla, who does this also. : )
ReplyDeleteHappy May, Debby!
~Sheri
If this is my view every day, I couldn't complain. So lovely!
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful May, Debby. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your sweet comment, Lux...and I hope your May is beautiful as well!
DeleteLoved reading your answers, Debby, and I completely agree with No. 4. I'm looking forward to seeing your future farmhouse and I also see the days, weeks and months are just flying by, too.
ReplyDeleteAlso wanted to add that I enjoyed your photos, the shot of the horse is fantastic!
How fun to learn more about you via your variety of questions and answers. Your photos are just unreal...award winning. Happy May!
ReplyDeleteWell I will just to devote some time to reading about your log house and also look forward to hearing more about the Tennessee farm house. Loved the early morning pictures. You commented on my post that granddaughter looks like a "natural" and surprisingly she really is. She just has a light about her when she performs. Where did that come from?
ReplyDeleteIt's always a pleasure learning more about you.
ReplyDeleteYour photos, as always, are gorgeous!
Yes, it's getting green around here too. :-)
Have a beautiful day, Debby

ReplyDeleteI love reading your hodgepodges! So interesting to get to know you better. I totally agree with you about wishing there were better regulations in place. I think it is awful how people fraud the government, and then there are others who can't get any help at all. Thanks for another great post....LOVE your photos. Oh, my, they are just beautiful. My favorite is the one of the horse. Sending love and hugs to you today, sweet friend. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteI always loved seeing your beautiful photos, Debby, and reading your hodgepodge answers. My one son just told me that today is May the 4th be With You!
ReplyDeleteNo, it's hard to believe that almost half the year has gone by! It's so sad how the years fly by as we get older, isn't it?
Happy first week of May, Debby!
Fabulous photographs.
ReplyDeleteI hope this first week of May has been good for you.
All the best Jan
Thank you! It has been a good week, Jan...I hope yours was to!
DeleteHi Debby! Your photos are so dreamy looking in the morning light...especially the horse and the old hay bale.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Mexico several times, but always at an 'all inclusive' or protected situation. My brother-in-law is building a condo there to retire! I guess there are many USA people retiring there because of the low cost.
Yes, it's May! I just got back from visiting and helping my daughter, her baby was born May 1st. It was busy, but fun too :)
Blessings,
Ceil
Hi Debby. I'm new to blogging, and as I searched for other blogs with similar interests, your title caught my eye. Thought I'd stop by. So glad I did! Some of your favourite things, are also some of my favourite things! :)
